Hazard Mitigation Plan for Virginia

CGIT collaborated with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to develop a five-year business plan detailing different Virginia floodplain management areas that would be further addressed by DCR. These collaborative efforts are integral part of the Virginia Floodplain Management Program which has been supervised by DCR since 1997.

One of the most prominent areas of the Floodplain Management Plan is the management of FEMA Cooperating Technical Partners (CTP) funding for updating Virginia’s Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs). CGIT provided technical assistance in prioritizing those communities with the most pressing flood map update needs and in quantifying these needs.
