2013 Governor's Technology Awards

CGIT is honored to be named a recipient of a 2013 Governor's Technology Award for our work to develop the Broadband Planning and Analysis Toolkit, in partnership with the Center for Innovative Technology and the Virginia Geographic Information Network. The Toolkit won the award for Innovative Use of Technology in Modeling and Simulation, in a competitive awards competition that recognizes public sector IT projects across the Commonwealth.

The Broadband Planning and Analysis Toolkit (www.cgit.vt.edu/broadband/) is a suite of next-generation broadband mapping data and tools that enable stakeholders including state and local governments, citizens, and businesses in the planning, decision making, and deployment of broadband infrastructure.

CGIT celebrates receiving a second 2013 Governor's Technology Award for our work in developing Veteran’s Broadband Access for Improved Healthcare, in partnership with the Virginia Tech Institute for Policy and Governance, the Virginia Center for Innovative Technology, Broad Axe Technology Partners, and the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program. The project won the award for Innovative Use of Technology in Healthcare, in a competitive awards competition that recognizes public sector healthcare projects across the Commonwealth. The research project explores the implications of broadband access and utilization as a means to improve veterans' health care services and coordination.
